Boko Haram Kills Scores in Adamawa | Destroys over 500 Houses

Boko Haram insurgents invaded the villages of Kubi and Watu in Adamawa State yesterday, killing scores of people and razing about 540 houses.

The attack occurred early yesterday morning while people were still asleep,Osun Defender reports.

Houses were burnt down, while residents were indoors, causing many to be killed.

Another Church Building Collapses in Edo State

Barely two weeks ago, a one-storey building belonging to Christ Chosen Church of God in Edo State collapsed leaving one person dead, and three critically injured.

And now, another church building has collapsed in Edo.

A church auditorium belonging to Liberty Power Bible Church Incorporated, owned by a man named Moses Erue, collapsed on Sunday afternoon after a heavy rainstorm, Punch reports.

No lives were lost; however, a residential building was said to have been adversely affected by the incident.

It is suspected that the collapse occurred as a result of the use of  substandard building materials used to construct the building.

Freed Chibok Girl Found Brutalized & Pregnant in Adamawa

One of the Chibok girls whom Boko Haram abducted and then freed, was reportedly found in Mubi, Adamawa brutalized and four months pregnant.

The girl has been identified as Susan Ishaya, Leadership reports.

Sources say she was found near a police station in Mubi, where she was abandoned by the terrorists.

“Evidently, the girl was subjected to serious abuse. There are bruises on her body, and she is suffering from psychological trauma,” said Tsamdo Hosea Abana, chairman of the Chibok community in Abuja.

Ishaya is said to be currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

Senate Approves Pres. Jonathan’s $1 Billion Loan Request to Fight Insurgency

The Senate has approved President Goodluck Jonathan‘s request for a $1 billion external loan to fight insurgency in Nigeria.

Punch reports that the loan would not be given  in cash, but through “the supply of military hardware to be paid for, over a seven-year period.”

“The request is for a ceiling of $1bn and not that, at the moment, the whole amount would be utilised. Government will procure on the terms stated, based on needs assessment of our security agencies,” said Ahmed Makarfi, chairman of the senate.

Families Of Two South Africans Intend To Sue Nigerian Evangelist TB Joshua Over Collapse Building

Two South Africans who lost relatives when a church hostel in Lagos collapsed have told the BBC they intend to sue Nigerian evangelist TB Joshua. 

The two men, who both lost sisters in the collapse, are appealing for more families to come together in bringing a case against the preacher. At least 115 people, including 84 South Africans, died when the multi-storey building fell down earlier this month.

The authorities say it had more floors than its foundation could hold. On Sunday, Mr Joshua, who is one of Nigeria's best-known evangelists and is popular across Africa, announced plans to travel to South Africa to visit the families of the deceased.

The Ekiti State High Court was today shut indefinitely after a High Court Judge was allegedly beaten by Pro-Fayose thugs this morning in the court premises.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of the State, Mr. Olawale Fapohunda, who frowned at the act, vowed to sue the state governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose, and also hold his lawyers responsible for the act. Nigeria Military fires GOC attacked by convicted soldiers

The Nigeria Military authorities have retired the former General Officer Commanding the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Maj. Gen. Abubakar Mohammed, who was attacked by soldiers at their barracks in Maiduguri on May 14th. The soldiers have since been sentenced to death for that action by a military court.

According to Punch, Mohammed was retired after he was recalled to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army without posting for months after the soldiers’ attempt on his life.

NIGERIA AIRFORCE MISSING JET Crashed In Adamawa Local Residents Find Missing Jet

The plane was said to have crashed on Saturday at Gabun village near Gaanda, in Gombi Local Government of the state.

Local farmers in Gombi Local Government Area of the state yesterday claimed to have sighted an aircraft that crashed at a place near Gabun primary school.

The residents said they saw a ‘low-flying jumbo jet’ matching the description of the missing Alpha Jet after it disappeared on Friday.

Several residents of Hawul, a border town in Borno State, also said they saw an aircraft in military colours with green-red-stripes flying so low over the mountains as the plane’s doors were clearly visible.

Very Scary :( This is a dead pic of a robber who got electrocuted while trying to steal cable from a transformer just beside a house on Iju road by Lonlo bus stop. He apparently tried to steal the cable in the very early hours of today when he got electrocuted and remained in that position until residents woke up this morning. Residents say they are waiting for Government officials to come and carry his dead body.

An Alpha Jet (NAF 466) belonging to theNigerian Air Force and involved in the counter insurgency operation against the extremist Boko Haram sect has gone missing around Adamawa State. The spokesperson of the Defence Headquarters, Major General Chris Olukolade, said the aircraft, with two pilots on board, went missing on Friday.

Yesterday Oscar Pistorius was found not guilty of premeditated murder and second degree murder because according to the judge, his conduct after the shooting was 'inconsistent' with someone who intended to commit murder. But he has been foundguilty of manslaughter this morning. The judge said he acted negligently when he fired shots into the toilet door. The question now is, will he be jailed for manslaughter?

Maiduguri is Surrounded by Boko Haram, Borno Elders’ Forum Cries Out

The Borno Elders’ Forum (BEF) has decried the horror, death, destruction and misery that has been visited on North-eastern Nigeria and particularly Borno State by Boko Haram, warning that the sect has strategised and completely surrounded the city of Maiduguri.

A statement signed by the chairman of the forum, Ambassador Gaji Galtimari Usman, and made available to THISDAY yesterday, said: “They have reached as far as Kayamla from the south of Maiduguri; Dikwa and Mafa from the east of Maiduguri; and have destroyed almost all the island settlements at Lake Chad and the commercial fishing towns of Baga, Doro, Kingarra, Duguri, Daban Masara, etc.”
