Gov. Fashola Declares November 7th Work Free Day in Lagos for PVCCollection

Gov-FasholaGovernor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Wednesday declared November 7th as work free day for public servants in the state to enable them to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).

Fashola, in a state broadcast, said that: “November 7th shall be a work free day in order to enable workers to carry out this civic duty and exercise their civic rights”.

He appealed to residents to seize the opportunity to ensure they collect their PVCs and register at a polling unit close to their homes.

NAN reports that the collection of PVCs will begin in Lagos on Friday and will end on November 9th, while fresh registration will take place from November 13th to November 17th.

Lagos State Trains 80 Females to Drive Commercial “BRT” Buses

new lagbusLagos state is currently training 80 women to drive commercial LAGBUS buses, popularly known as “BRT”.Mass transportation firm, LAGBUS Asset Management is conducting the training,Punch reports.The managing director of the company,Babatunde Disu, stated that the inclusion of women in the training program constituted a part of the state’s efforts to provide equal employment opportunities for females in Lagos.“

Lagos Govt warns TB Joshua not to accept Ebola victims in his church


The Lagos state government has warned pastor TB Joshua of Synagogue Church of All Nations not to accept Ebola victims if they come to him for healing.

According to The Nation officials of Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Federal Government, led by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, visited him seeking his cooperation in ensuring victims of the deadly virus are not brought to his church for healing. Synagogue is a popular destination for sick people who go there for divine healing. 

“We have our strategies that we intend to share with you. Again, we need to know the resources you have here because whether it is one or two cases, if they are allowed to get out, it is a major problem. We are here to work together on how to contain this disease,” Idris told the cleric.” Dr Idris reportedly told Joshua. Continue…

The current situation is very pathetic. I feel God has helped me thus far and I want to give back through politics that will be favourable to the youths. 

The worst part of our national life is that the level of corruption has not allowed youths to understand what it means to live a meaningful life . 

Just because of lack of knowledge of what to do, we are being side tracked. 

There are no jobs, and issues like these lead to frustration.

Good News: LASU Reduces Tuition Fees

Lagos State University (LASU) has finally given in to the students’ demands for a reduction in fees, Vanguard reports.

LASU had reportedly increased tuition  fees by over 100%, prompting outrage among students last week.According to reports, fees have now been reduced by 34 to 60%.

The reduction will vary by department.However, students have reportedly rejected the reduction.Speaking on behalf of the school’s attendees, president of LASU’s  Students Union Government, Nurudeen Yusuf stated:“We had our meeting immediately after we got the news and decided that we will not accept this reduction. It is a ridiculous one as far as we are concerned.This is our position.

Lagos State Gov Fashola & Peter Obi Receive Silverbird’s Man of The Year Awards

Lagos State Governor, Mr Raji Fashola and Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi have jointly received the award for Silverbird’s man of the year award for 2013, for the uncommon development of their states and introducing new norms in governance. They received the awards yesterday at Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
