Rapper Benzino in Stable Condition After Getting Shot at His Mother’s Funeral

According to reports, rapper and Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta star Benzino is in critical condition after being shot while attending his mother’s funeral. It’s being alleged that his own nephew is the one who fired the shots, three of which hit Benzino as he was leaving.

Update: Multiple sources have confirmed the news to be true. Benzino is now in stable condition and is expected to survive, and his 36-year-old nephew, Gai Scott has been charged in the shooting. Stevie J has posted a photo of Benzino recovering in the hospital.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has disciplined Chris Smalling after the defender was pictured out in Manchester during the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Manchester Evening News published pictures of Smalling which it claimed shows the England international apparently singing in the streets at 3:15am on Saturday morning.

Smalling had stayed in the north-west while the rest of his team-mates travelled to London for their Saturday evening clash against West Ham because of a hamstring injury.

APC Challenges PDP to Prove Links With Boko Haram

The war of words between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) continued unabated yesterday with the APC challenging the PDP to urgently make available to the Nigerian public any evidence of the opposition's alleged involvement in the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency “or forever shut up”.

The PDP had on Tuesday accused the APC of sponsoring the insurgency in the North-east to destabilise the Jonathan government “because the President is from a minority group.

Arsene Wenger maintains he wants to stay at Arsenal - and that there should be "no uncertainty at all" over his future.

The 64-year-old French coach will take charge of the Gunners for his 1,000th game at Chelsea on Saturday, but as yet there has been no confirmation Wenger will be staying on past the end of the season.

However, Wenger insists he is not considering moving on and that the formalities of a new deal will be announced soon.

Boko Haram: Military Captures Cameroonian Weapon Supplier

The Nigerian military in yet another evidence of growing foreign influence within the ranks of the terrorist Boko Haram sect have arrested a Cameroonian who is suspected to be a big arms supplier to the group.

In a related development, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen Kenneth Minima has been checking on deployment and troops’ disposition in various locations of the theatre of the counter terrorist campaign in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

According to the statement issued friday by the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade, the arrest of the Cameroonian has led to the discovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition hidden in the premises of a burnt church in Kalabalge Local Government Area of Borno State.

President Goodluck Jonathan has cancelled last Saturday’s recruitment by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), which turned tragic when over 16 job seekers died in stampedes at various centres nationwide.

He directed the conduct of a fresh employment process that will be supervised by a special committee headed by the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Mrs. Joan Ayo, to fill the vacancies in the NIS.

David Moyes is confident that the knee injury suffered by Robin van Persie in Wednesday's epic comeback against Olympiacos is not serious.

Van Persie scored a stunning hat-trick to give Manchester United the 3-0 win they needed to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Some of the gloss was taken off the dramatic night, though, when Van Persie was carried off on a stretcher in the dying minutes of the match after a tackle by Giannis Maniatis.

United will scan the player using their newly-installed state-of-the-art machinery at the AON Training Complex on Thursday and Moyes is hopeful that he will receive good news.

Mourinho says Chelsea cannot win the Champions League

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes his side have no chance of winning the Champions League, despite making it into the quarter finals.

The Portuguese boss was downbeat on the Blues' ability to progress to the semi-finals.
Having just witnessed his team beat Turkish side Galatasaray 3-1 over two legs, Mourinho remained cautious.

"All the big teams made to win the Champions League are there [in the quarter finals]."
Asked if Chelsea were in that group of top clubs, Mourinho told Gabriel Clarke:"No because the big Chelsea is not here anymore.

19 Redeemed Church Members Burnt In Accident

An accident involving three vehicles, one carry 19 Redeemed church members, occurred on Monday along the Potiskum-Maiduguri highway leaving all the Redeemed church members burnt beyond recognition and 16 others dead.

Confirming the accident, the Federal Road Safety Commission spokesman in Yobe State, Mr Yusuf Sani, said the church members were said to be coming back from a church programme in Lagos when the accident happened

Judge Orders Chris Brown To Remain In Jail

LOS ANGELES (Associated Press) — Chris Brown will spend another month in jail after a judge said Monday he was told the singer made troubling comments in rehab about being good at using guns and knives.

Brown, 24, was arrested on Friday after he was dismissed from a Malibu facility where he was receiving treatment for anger management, substance abuse and issues related to bipolar disorder.

Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin said rehab officials reported to him that Brown said during a group session: "'I am good at using guns and knives.'" His comment was in response to an exercise in which Brown was asked to reflect on things he was good or excelled at.

Mourinho Expects Drogba To return To Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has told ITV that he believes former striker Didier Drogba will almost inevitably return to the club in some capacity, even potentially as a player.

The Ivorian striker, who will player against Chelsea on Tuesday night, is a club legend at Stamford Bridge.
Asked if he thought Drogba would one day be part of the set-up at Stamford Bridge again, Mournho told Gabriel Clarke: "I think so - he likes the club, the club likes him."

US Ambassador Speaks Pidgin English on Radio

It’s not often that a broadcast interview by a diplomat wows listeners, but a recent conversation involving the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, James F. Entwistle, is causing a buzz – and winning applause.

The praise is not so much for the content of the interview or the pressing issues the ambassador discussed. It’s more for the language in which he chose to express himself: pidgin English.

Pidgin or broken English is the popular lingua franca in West Africa. The patois cuts across Nigeria, the continent’s most populous nation, which is home to hundreds of local languages, making it easier for millions of Nigerians from different parts of the country to communicate.

PDP Accuses CBN Gov Of Giving APC N1bn

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, of financial recklessness and partisanship in his administration of the central bank, and is therefore calling for a detailed forensic audit of all the accounts and financial activities of the CBN from 2009 till date.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, yesterday, PDP alleged that there was sufficient evidence to show that states controlled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its chieftains had benefitted from the financial recklessness of the suspended governor.
