Manchester United have been accused of turning themselves into a laughing stock with their handling of David Moyes' departure.

Moyes' nine-month reign at Old Trafford came to an end on Tuesday when he was sacked following a meeting at 8am with vice-chairman Ed Woodward at Carrington.

The dismissal did not come as a surprise as many national media outlets reported on Monday afternoon that Moyes was to be dismissed.

David Moyes Expects Support From Man United Fans

David Moyes insists he retains the support of the majority of Manchester United fans.

A group of supporters have clubbed together to pay for a light aircraft to fly over Old Trafford on Saturday, trailed by a banner that reads "Wrong One - Moyes Out".

The United boss said fans were "entitled" to organise such a protest after recent results, but the Scot insists he is supported by most fans, the club's board and the playing staff.

Ferdinand Embarrassed By Man United Form

 

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand admits he has felt too embarrassed to show his face in public at times this year because of his team's dreadful form.

Ferdinand has known nothing but success since he joined United 12 years ago, winning six Premier League titles and one Champions League.

The defender has, therefore, found life hard going this year because of the team's struggle under David Moyes.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes manager David Moyes deserves the club's backing, despite the Red Devils suffering another heavy defeat on Tuesday night.

Just eight days on from their humbling at home to fierce rivals Liverpool, United suffered another 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford, this time against Manchester City.

Robin van Persie has moved to end speculation that he wants to leave Manchester United.
There have been rumours the Dutch international is unhappy at Old Trafford.

However, Van Persie has claimed he would be happy to sign a new deal with United. His current contract runs until summer 2016.

The striker told United Review, the club's official programme: "I don't mind if my performances get dissected and people criticise what I've done on the pitch. They can talk about my game 24/7 for all I care... and a lot of those opinions and criticisms may actually be right. So I don't mind that.
